Memorial Student Center Pricing Policy

Any group/organization, either University or non-University related, that uses the Memorial Student Center will fall under one of the pricing plans below.

All events that are not covered under the following pricing policy will be reviewed by the Student Center Governing Board to facilitate necessary arrangements.  In an emergency situation, the Manager of Facilities Scheduling and the Memorial Student Center Business Manager have authority to render a decision and this decision and substantiating material will be presented at the following Governing Board meeting.

Student Organization Plan

The Student Plan will be defined as any recognized student group or organization.

If there is no admission charge and the event is open to the University community, no fee will be charged to student groups/organizations using the following rooms:  Don Morris Room, John Marshall Room, Shawkey Dining Room, John Spotts Room, and Marco's.

When student groups/organizations are charging the public sector an admission fee or when there is a preregistration for participants or a vendor's fee is assessed, then the specific applicable room rate is charged.

A $70.00 fee, however, will be charged for use of the Don Morris Room.

Faculty/Staff/Administration Plan

Any faculty, staff or administrative department wishing to use the facility will be charged accordingly:

No fee will be charged for use of the conference rooms and meeting rooms if there is no admission charge or registration fee.

The use of the Don Morris Room, Shawkey Dining Room, John Marshall Room, and John Spotts Room is free if the event is a Marshall University related function which is sanctioned by the department or college.

For a non-Marshall University related and non-departmental or college sanctioned activity, then the applicable fee for non-University, non-educational use for facilities will apply.

If the event is University related and there is an admission charge or registration fee, the University room fee is applicable.

Non-University Plan

This plan applies to any non-University related organization or group.  These organizations/groups may schedule rooms within the Student Center after the needs of the University community have been met.  Non-University groups/ organizations will be charged a rental fee, payable in advance.  Off-campus groups will be charged a room usage fee even if a meal is served.  Off-campus groups will pay for use of audio-visual equipment.

For meeting rooms, a fee will be charged, depending upon the size of the room

For conference rooms, a fee of $40 to $60 will be charged, depending upon the size of the room.

For BE-5 Multi-purpose Room, a $250.00 fee will be charged, or $150.00 with a meal.
Wedding receptions held in BE-5 are $750.00 plus the cost of hiring a Marshall University Public Safety Office (MUPD).

For the Don Morris Room, a fee of $300.00 will be charged for non-educational use or $200.00 with a meal. The fee for Wedding Receptions or dances is $1,000.00, plus the cost of hiring a Marshall University Public Safety Office (MUPD).

For the John Marshall Room, a fee of $250.00 will be charged for receptions, or $75.00 with a meal.

For the John Spotts Room, a fee of $100.00 will be charged, or $50,00 with a meal.

For Marco's, a fee of $100.00 will be charged, or $50.00 with a meal.

For use of the Recreation Area the charge is $50.00 per hour with a two hour minimum reservation.

Lobby tables are $150.00 per table per day.

Daily Building Rate:

When a conference is using the entire Memorial Student Center, the following charges will apply:

University Sponsored Event:  $225.00 per day for use of all meeting rooms*

Non-University Sponsored Event: $500.00 per day for use of all meeting rooms or $300.00 per day with a meal.*

** All prices are subject to change without prior notice.
** All food served is to be purchased only through Sodexo America LLC, the campus dining contractor.

* The after-hours building fee is an additional $40.00 per hour.
