Two Year Programs

Associate of Applied Science in Information Technology

Graduates of the Information Technology Program at Marshall Community and Technical College emerge well-rounded in computer skills and knowledge.

Their wide range of skills give them many career options while helping them compete in today's global work force and adapt to future changes in technology.

Students may choose to study from four options: x

  • Internet Option
  • Network Systems Administrator (MCSE)
  • Network Systems Development (CCNA)
  • Program Development Option

A+ Certification, Cisco and Microsoft Systems Engineer curriculum are part of the four study options.

A+ Certification - a test program, sponsored by Comp TIA, that certifies the competency of entry-level service technicians in the computer industry. Upon completion of IT 270 and IT276, students are ready to sit for the A+ certification exam.

Cisco - The Cisco Networking Academy Program teaches students to design, build, and maintain computer networks and covers everything from basic network skills to applying advanced troubleshooting tools. Graduates of this program are eligible to earn Cisco Certified Network Associated certification.

Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer - Marshall Community and Technical College is a designated Microsoft Academic Authorized Training Provider. That means it is certified to teach Microsoft Official Curriculum, which is designed to help students prepare for Microsoft certification, an industry-recognized credential. Once certified, these students are prepared to fill the large number of jobs in information technology.

Internet Option - The Information Technology Program also offers a course specializing in the Internet. In addition to the two-year program option, students may also choose the Internet specialization, which requires completion of five classes directly related to the Internet technologies.

Students also may begin or continue work on Cisco certification as part of their study in the Network Administration track.

The integrated Science and Technology program produces graduates who are critical thinkers, skilled communicators and team players with strong foundations in mathematics and logic.

Integrated Science and Technology graduates understand the influence of science and technology on modern society. We have small classes, a faculty dedicated to success, and an atmosphere in which students have a hand in shaping their education and their future.
