Dr. Tracy Christofero Associate Professor of Technology Management

Research Dr. Christofero’s research interests include information privacy and security, IT project management, technological regulatory compliance, and healthcare informatics. Her publications include “Information Privacy as Required by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA): Awareness and Barriers to Compliance as Experienced by Small Health Care Practitioners in Rural West Virginia.” Teaching Dr. Christofero is responsible for teaching a variety of Technology Management graduate courses. In addition to her role as an Associate Professor, Dr. Christofero is also the Technology Management Program Coordinator. In this role, she is in charge of advising current and prospective TM students and will ensure that daily functions of the program are met. Background Dr. Christofero brings twenty years of IT project management, education, and consulting experience to the College of Information Technology and Engineering. Prior to joining MU, Dr. Christofero led IT, IT training and education projects in Fortune 2 (and smaller) corporations, government, healthcare, and higher education organizations to include information privacy and security regulatory compliance projects for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, the West Virginia Health Care Authority, and the West Virginia Office of Technology. Dr. Christofero is a member of the Women’s Studies and Information Systems Advisory committees for Marshall. She also serves as the Board Vice-President for the Mental Health Association in the Greater Kanawha Valley, and as a member of their Safety, Education, and Auction committees. Dr. Christofero also is certified as a Project Management Professional for the Project Management Institute (PMI) and has CIPP/G certification (Government Privacy certification– International Association of Privacy Professionals).
