Research
Dr. Ermolaeva’s areas of research expertise include Comparative and
International Development, Ethnic Relations, Social Inequality,
Sociology of Education, Pre-Industrial Societies, and Gender
Development. She also has a experiences on researching sociology in different world systems;
archaeological world system of Hawaii, Ethnocultural differences in
modification of behavior and personality Western-Eastern cultures,
Transformation of Former Soviet Union and Perestroika.
Teaching
Having joined Marshall University since 2005, Dr. Ermolaeva has
taught Introductory Sociology, Social Stratification, Sociology of
Sex and Gender, Race and Ethnicity, and Social Problems. Currently,
Dr. Ermolaeva co-teaches Paradise Islands, Social Structures in an
Emerging Economy for Honors Seminar. As an active educator, Dr. Ermolaeva is also interested in teaching Ethnic Relations in Global
Perspective (US, Pacific, Eastern Europe, former USSR), Sociology of
Education, Research Methods & Statistics, Cross-Cultural Research,
and Comparative Sociology in a future.
Service and Outreach
Through her professional and academic career, Dr. Ermolaeva has
served as an organizer/a presider for numerous professional/academic
conferences nation-wide/internationally. Addition to that, she also
has been serving as textbook referee/ manuscript reviewer of SAGE,
McGraw, Thomson, and Wadsworth Publishing Companies.
Since joining Marshall in 2005, Dr. Ermolaeva’s contribution to
advancement in academia is remarkable. Currently, Dr. Ermolaeve’s
services include: Director of Undergraduate Studies,
Sociology/Anthropology, COLA Faculty Concerns Committee, Graduate
Curriculum Committee, Undergraduate Program Review Committee in
Sociology, Co-Chair of Assessment Day Committee, Faculty Search
Committee of Statistics and Research Methods, and Departmental
Chair.
