Research Dr. Bassil’s research interests involve concepts and functionality in workflow technology, adaptive workflows, workflow-based systems, business process applications, automated negotiations, transportation processes, medical processes, and implementation issues of information systems. Dr. Bassil’s expertise include Pascal, C, Cobol, SQL, Java, VHDI, JavaScript, Perl, Oracle, Access, IBM MQ Series Workflow and BEA Systems WLPI, ILOG Rules, ILOG OPL Studio, Rational Rose and Together J, SNiFF+ and xSuds, LaTex, HTML, Microsoft Office, HTTP, FTP, Telnet, and SPSS. A collaborative reserach effort of Dr. Bassil's, "Preserving the Context of Interrupted Business Process Activities," was selected as a best paper at the ICEIS 2005 Conference, and was published within the Enterprise Information Systems VII book (Springer Verlag, Berlin).
Teaching Dr. Bassil has broad teaching experience gained at several institutions. Her teaching specialties include Java programming and Advanced Software Engineering, undergraduate and graduate courses in Data Structures and Algorithms, Information Systems Modeling, Software Engineering, Information Systems Security, Intrusion Detection and Response, and operating systems. Dr. Bassil teaches an undergraduate Java programming class at Marshall, as well as CyberSecurity, Analysis of Algorithms, and Senior Project II.
Service and Outreach Dr. Bassil has served as Treasurer for the Lions Club “Montreal – Cedres du Liban”. In 2003, 2005, and 2007, Dr. Bassil served as a committee member for the First, Second, and Third Indian International Conference on Artificial Intelligence. She continues to promote the conference.
