Background

Prior to becoming the Program Coordinator for MU-ADVANCE, Ms. Williams served as the Program Assistant for the Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR). During her four years in this role, she gained valuable insight as to how grants are administered.

As a graduate student, Ms. Williams was a Research Assistant to a Rockefeller Scholar in Residence for the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Gender in Appalachia (CSEGA), researching the 1974 Kanawha County WV Textbook Boycott. Ms. Williams was also a Graduate Assistant for the Women’s Center, where she co-organized the Vagina Monologues and oversaw arrangements for guest speakers, including the renowned Gloria Steinem. In addition to the assistantships, Ms. Williams was President of the Women’s Studies Student Association.

Service

Ms. Williams serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors for CONTACT, the local rape crisis center. She continues to help with the organization of the Vagina Monologues.
