2003 Summer Institute at South Charleston High School

It's impossible to convince people who haven't been through it just how much fun it is be a part of a Writing Project Summer Institute.  It sounds like hard work, and it is, but writing and sharing and laughing and crying together make the experience much more than any regular class: the writing project brings teachers together to share their best practices and go back to their classrooms renewed, refreshed, and excited to try out new ideas.

Teachers teaching, teachers going overboard to teach a lesson...and then teachers on a field trip. We took Digital Cameras with us on our "Writing Marathon," a field trip in which participants in small groups visit various interesting locations to write, share, and experience together.
