Admission procedures for online courses at Marshall University are the same as for on-campus courses. You must be admitted to Marshall University to be eligible for online course enrollment.

If you are interested in just taking a few courses, check here first:

Transient student

1. you have some college credit and you want the credits for the online course you take at Marshall University to transfer to your home institution
2. submit our online admissions application ($25 fee in-state, $35 fee out-of-state)
3. ask the Registrar at your home institution to send a letter of good standing to Marshall University Admissions

Non-degree student

1. you have been out of high school at least 5 years; you have no college credits and you are not attending another school
2. submit our online admissions application ($25 fee in-state, $35 fee out-of-state)
3. please note:
   there is no guarantee the credits you earn at Marshall University will apply towards any major or program;
   non degree students can earn up to 30 hours and then they must apply as a degree seeking freshman student.

Special student

1. you already have a college degree and just want to take a few courses
2. submit our online admissions application ($25 fee in-state, $35 fee out-of-state)
3. ask the institution from which you earned your degree to send an official transcript to Marshall University Admissions.

As soon as you have been admitted to Marshall University, you will receive a letter of acceptance from the Office of Admissions which includes your MU ID number. You are then ready to register.
