Sgt. Angela Howell R.A.D. Instructor since Fall 1997 Sgt. Howell graduated from Marshall University in 1992 with a B.A. in Criminal justice. She started working at the Marshall University Police Department in January 1992. In the fall of 1997, she became the first certified R.A.D. instructor for the MU Police Department. Sgt. Howell is certified to teach R.A.D. Basic Physical Defense, R.A.D. Advanced Self-Defense, R.A.D. Kids, Keychain Defense Options, and Aerosol Defense Options. Sgt. Stanley Harper R.A.D. Instructor since Spring 1998 Sgt. Harper went into the U.S. Army at 1977. He was active in the Army for 7 years and left at the rank of Sergeant. After being discharged, Harper came back home to Huntington and joined MUPD as a night watchman in 1986. After spending three years as a watchman, he became an officer with MUPD in 1989. Currently he has been promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Harper has since joined the R.A.D. system program and is a certified instructor for the basic and advanced self defense courses. Ptlm. Scott Ballou R.A.D. Instructor since Summer 2000 Officer Ballou graduated from Marshall University in 1997 with a B.A. in Criminal Justice. He started at the Marshall University Police Department in 1999. He was certified as a R.A.D. instructor in the summer of 2000. He is certified to teach basic and advanced self-defense programs.
