Fall 2009 Grantsmanship Professional Development Schedule

 

The Marshall University Research Corporation is pleased to announce its schedule of professional development opportunities in grantsmanship, designed specifically for Marshall researchers and administrative staff.

 

All sessions are FREE and open to the university community. Registration is requested. To register, please e-mail Jessica Grady.

General Session I:  Introduction to Proposal Preparation

This session will offer an overview of the process for preparing a proposal for external funding, securing the necessary approvals at the university level and submitting the proposal to the funding sponsor.

      Highlights

·         Identifying funding opportunities

·         Determining principal investigator eligibility

·         Making cost sharing commitments

·         Interpreting sponsor guidelines and policies

·         Preparing proposal application forms

·         Completing “Authorization to Submit” form

General Session II:  Finding Funding

This hands-on workshop is designed for all faculty and administrators who want to become more proficient at obtaining grant funding. Learn how to use online databases to search for federal, private and other sources of external funding.

General Session III:  Sponsored Project Management (An Introduction)

 

This overview of the sponsored projects management process includes pre-award actions, award acceptance, post-award management and closeout.

·         Sub-awards and sub-award monitoring

·         Cost share obligations

Talking Grants

MURC introduces its friendly “brown bag” college/departmental sessions, which will bring its grants officers together with faculty researchers and administrative staff members in an informal format. Participants are encouraged to bring their lunches and any questions or concerns they have related to grantsmanship at Marshall.
