Common terms used...
POL's (Poetry
On
Location)
This term is made in reference to where we write
our poetry. Everyonce in a while, we will make a trip to Ritter Park
or by the river, for example, to write poetry. Hence the term, poetry
on location.
The Jar of Despair
The
Jar of Despair is a club favorite. This is yet another way we challenge
our members. Some meetings members are given the option to chose
a subject for their poem from the jar. They must then use the topic
chosen for the poem they are writing that week. Such topics include,
but are not limited to: the last unpopped kernal in the bag, behold,
or a broken starfish.
O's (On
the Spot)
On the Spot refers to the
time a poem is written. In the past, O's have been used to punish
those disobedient members who do not do their poetry assignments.
(Don't worry, no one is forced to do anything they do not want to do.
Lol.) We then give the person in question a time limit and told to
write. When their time is up, they are asked to read their poetry.
We all do it. It's fun, and helpful. Believe me.
