The Lord of Dreams appeared to me
grasping of my hand,
bidding me: "Arise! Arise!
We're off to Neverland!"
I followed thus as Dream did ask
bewildered, though without fear,
and found myself as I am now
waiting, watching here.
When will I return? I asked.
Where now shall I be?
He turned to me with ghostly eyes,
and this he said to me:
"I am Dream, and this you know.
Ask not, for you shall see.
When it's time to return thus,
I will come for thee."
And with these words he turned away,
and vanished from my sight.
Leaving me with dreams so sweet
to see me through the night.
I've dreamt of love, I've dreamt of dreams,
yet Dream has not returned.
My thoughts renewed, my heart restored,
but yet so much unlearned.
I wait for him, this Lord of Dreams
to raise me from my sleep,
but in patience lies the best of things-
Time, Lord Dream won't keep.
So here I sit, and here I stay,
awaiting to awake,
but I must wait for him to come,
my dreams, for Dream to take.
