Tygart Valley River -- Valley Falls Section (IV)
Valley Falls State Park to Hammond

Updates:
8.18.07 - MUWC at Valley Falls - Falls to Twist and Shout 4min 16mb NEW 8.20.07!
Description:
If it is summer and the rivers a low this is a great place to get some low water action in the heat. No real need for shuttle. You can easily walk back up the train tracks on river right. If it is a nice day you will also have a big audience of on-lookers. The Valley Falls has two ledges. The top ledge has about 3 places to run. River left there is a 10ft boof, but watch for the log and this ledge can be sticky because of some underwater rocks that make it retentive. River right has a sweet slide that is on the 8.18.08 video above. Next drop has the ultra-classic Spout which is also on the video. Lefty boofs made for the biggest splashes. There is also a center line and a far slide line that is entertaining. Below the falls is a small class II-III. About a quarter mile down you will come upon Hamburger Helper (IV). There is a tight slot that is good. The main line is left of the mushroom pillow. Not much further you will come upon Twist and Shout (IV). It should be noted that at the right levels there is a bad sieve on river right. It is an easy scout on river right as well. The line is basically the name of the drop: twist the top and shout at the bottom. --HD
