MOO Classes
|
| Before Class.... |
-
Always be on time for class. This means that you will have to
connect to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) and log into DU prior to
class time.
-
Stay until class is over. If for some reason you are unable to
stay for the full class period, inform the instructor before the beginning
of class. When the time comes for you to leave, disconnect quietly
without disturbing the flow of the conversation.
-
Be prepared for the class discussion.
-
If the class is to focus on a reading, this typically means that you
have read each article assigned for discussion at least twice. The
first read is to become familiar with the context and geography of the
article. The second read is the critical examination of the reading
assignment. Keep a highlighter or take notes with you during the
second read. Watch for passages that stand out (in both positive
and negative ways), good quotes, potential discussion or writing prompts,
and (of course) new ideas. The results of the second reading are
gems that might spark lively discussion during class.
-
If the class is to focus on another activity, make certain you have
completed the corresponding assignments prior to class.
|
| During Class... |
-
As class begins, you will most likely want to have near you the cheat
sheets of MOO commands, your notes from your second reading, your journal,
and something to write with.
-
Contribute freely and spontaneously to the discussion. Don't
hold back, even if it seems that the conversation has moved past the point
you want to make. Each discussion is recorded, and points you make
during the discussion might be picked up later in an email discussion.

| After Class... |
-
In the assignments for each week, instructions are provided that describe
how to respond to the MOO classes.
