  • 1999-Present:  Marshall University, Director of Academic Services, College of Education and
    Human Services

    Responsibilities include:
    Supervision of staff and functions of Office of Student Services for all students in College of Education and Human Services (COEHS)

    Oversight of student record-keeping processes from admission through graduation and teacher certification

    Planning and implementing advisory procedures for incoming freshmen at summer orientation sessions

    Advising all undecided students in COEHS Counseling and advising all academic probation students in COEHS by setting up Academic Improvement Plans and applying retention strategies for these at-risk students

    Overseeing the advising processes for all students in COEHS; Editing and updating changes in requirement sheets for all COEHS majors effective each catalog year as approved by COEHS Program Committee

    Advising students in teaching programs regarding requirements for formal admission and procedure through the program

    Presenting advising seminars for faculty advisors in COEHS

    Counseling with undecided students and potential transfer students in selection of choice of major

    Overseeing the scholarship process for COEHS applicants

    Approving University excused absences for students in COEHS; Approving Counseling majors for formal admission into Counseling program

    Serving on committee for formal admission into Athletic Training program Membership on COEHS Dean’s Cabinet

    Representing COEHS on Associate Deans’ Council

    Membership on School of Education Leadership Committee

    Membership on COEHS Program Committee

    Membership on Educational Personnel Preparation Advisory Committee (EPPAC)

    Membership on COEHS Student Advisory Council

    Representing students appealing to Teacher Education Standards Committee regarding progress through the program

    Teaching at least one COEHS section of UNI 101 (New Student Seminar) each fall semester and presenting information regarding COEHS policies and procedures to other UNI 101 sections as guest lecturer

    Facilitating a seminar session once a semester at each EDF 218 section presenting information regarding formal admission to teacher education programs, test requirements, GPA requirements among other subjects

    Responsible for yearly updating of School of Education Student Handbook required for EDF 218 students

    Counseling with students with personal as well as academic problems; Verification of satisfactory progress for NCAA regulations for all COEHS student athletes

    Responsibilities include:
    All functions of  registration processes

    Creation of Schedule of Courses publication for all terms

    Processing of grades for all terms and all campuses

    Verification of athletic eligibility of all female athletes

    Problem solving with students, faculty and staff personnel regarding registration, Banner and Milo

    Direct supervision of all Registration personnel

    Indirect supervision of all Records  personnel

    Daily interaction with all Associate Deans, Department

    Chairpersons, Offices of Bursar, Admissions, Financial Aid and South Charleston campus personnel

    Assisting Registrar in many duties including the maintenance of master file of courses, computerization of student records, academic history, term controls, commencement

    Responsibility for registration processes during summer orientation

    Serving on University Banner Users Group, Athletic Compliance Committee, Athletic Eligibility      Subcommittee

    Attending monthly Associate Deans’  Meetings.

  • 1988-1996: Director, Student Athlete Program, Marshall University
    1985-1988: Assistant Director, Student Athlete Program, Marshall University

    Responsibilities:
    In both positions, responsible for original development and implementation of academic support processes for all student athletes including:

    Academic advising in all majors at Marshall University

    Scheduling and registration processes

    Career counseling

    Tracking for graduation

    Testing for learning disabilities

    Intervention processes for probationary, learning disabled and at-risk student athletes

    Supervising all tutorial services

    Creation of Mentoring programs

    Maintaining athletic eligibility for all student athletes
