FAMILY

Jan Faye Smith is the mother of three children named Denise Antoinette Robinson, Larry Donnel Wright and Victor Dion Wright. She also has 6 grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. Jan has been married twice and she stated my first marriage, when I was hired at Owens-Illinois, lasted for 23 years and I was Jan Faye Wright. She is now married to David Smith.

Jan credits her mother for giving her much support while she worked. I never would have made it without my mother. She was able to take her children to her mother's house when she went to work. I'd just wrap them up in blankets and take them to my mother's house. When she first started working she had her oldest who was two and a nine month old. The other one came along while she was working at Owens.

Jan also admits that since she worked, it took away from her children. When asked how she juggled everything she stated, I managed, but you deprive your children...There are a lot of school activities you don't get to go to. Jan also admits that with her working it makes them grow up a lot faster because there's so much they have to do for themselves. However, her children never resented her job, but they used the fact that she worked to their full potential. If there was something they needed or wanted, they were right there. Due to her working, her family lead a pretty good life. We got the house, we've always had two cars and we always went on vacation.
