Colleagues remember Morton

A violinist softly played in the Campus Christian Center chapel at noon Thursday as family and friends gathered to remember Dr. Giovanna "Jennie" Morton, associate dean of the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
Morton, 67, of Hun-tington, died Feb. 16 at her home after a long illness.
Invocation and benediction for the 45-minute tribute were performed by the Rev. Bob Bondurant. Musical interludes were performed by violin soloist Bruce Brown and singer Denise Eagan.
Guest speakers Dr. Sarah Denman, Dr. Leonard Deutsch, Dr. Bowie Kahl, Peggy Baden, Nancy Fagan, Dr. Lynne B. Welch and Ruby A. Basconi recounted personal experiences with Morton and shared feelings of their loss.
Morton's achievements included a nursing diploma from the St. Mary's
School of Nursing; bachelor's and master's of science in nursing from
The Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C.; graduate studies
at the University of Dayton and Marshall University; director of nursing
at St. Joseph's Hospital, Buckhannon, W.Va.; supervisor and instructor
at St. Mary's Hospital; associate dean of the College of Nursing and Health
Professions at Marshall; and director of the Graduate Nursing Program
at Marshall.
