University employee's hearing postponedby STEPHANIE D. KOSTO A Marshall University physical plant worker is still awaiting his indictment hearing with the Wayne County Grand Jury. Daniel Ervin Kessick, 40, of 1856 12th Ave., was arrested Aug. 10 on charges of first degree sexual assault, incest and sexual abuse of a family member. Kessick was released on a $100,000 bond. "The charges are alleged," Kessick said. "They are not true." Although the Wayne County Grand Jury met Nov. 5 and 9, Kessick's case was not presented this term, Diana Fields, the Wayne County Prosecuting Attorney's secretary said. "The next Grand Jury term is scheduled for the first Monday in March and Kessick's case will be presented then," Fields said. According to Wayne County Circuit Court bailiff, Mark Bradshaw, indictment hearings are often pushed to a later date so more evidence can be gathered for the case. Kessick has been an employee of Marshall since January 1984, Jim Stephens, director of human resources, said. |
