SAPB schedules spring comedy, variety show

by AMY M. LYNCH

Although this semester has not yet come to a close, plans have already begun for spring 2002. The Student Activities Programming Board has scheduled a number of acts including comedy, musical, multicultural and variety shows.

Buzz Sutherland is scheduled to perform Jan. 23 in Marco's in the Memorial Student Center. His comedy show is contagious because he talks with the audience rather than playing to them, according to information provided by SAPB.

Buzz has performed at more than 900 college campuses across the country. He has made television appearances on HBO's "Comic Relief," MTV's "Half Hour Comedy Hour," Comedy Central and the A&E Network.

A "Welcome Back Concert" is also scheduled for January. Comedian Alexandra McHale is scheduled to perform Jan. 24, in Marco's. The New York City resident is a member of the Actor's Studio of New York City and has studied with such actors as Paul Newman and Robert Redford, according to SAPB information.

Following McHale's performance is a performance by the band Argument.

"The band has established itself to be the region's most promising original band," according to the Web site www.theargument.net.

The Argument's music is rooted in American pop/rock with four-part vocal harmony. Members Scott Simons (keys), Matthew Warder (guitar), Brent Bunner (bass), and Chris Russell (drums).

More information about January's activities and other spring 2002 bookings can be obtained by contacting SAPB at 696-2290.
