The PharmD/MBA Program enables students to earn a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the School of Pharmacy and an MBA degree from the Lewis College of Business upon graduation. The program is developed to respond to the increasing need for pharmacists and pharmaceutical researchers who are knowledgeable in the areas of pharmacy as well as in business administration. Students interested in leadership positions that demand knowledge of pharmacy sciences and management concepts will benefit from this course of study. Graduates of the of PharmD/MBA program will have the training, knowledge, expertise, and skills to assume the following positions:

  • Department head in pharmaceutical manufacturing corporation
  • Executive position in healthcare related industry or sales
  • Leadership position in a pharmaceutical distribution center
  • Department director in state or federal health care agency
  • Administrator in a research managed care department
  • Director of Pharmacy in a health care system
  • Director of hospital operations
  • District Manager with a retail drug store chain
  • Starting and/or operating an independent pharmacy

Admissions

To be admitted, students must have a 4-year degree with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Students are eligible for probationary admission if they meet one of the following:

  1. Matriculating student having a minimum prerequisite GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale and a PCAT score of 50 composite percentile
  2. Current PharmD student who has completed ≥ 18 hours in the PharmD program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Application

Application is a two-step process:

  1. New students first must apply to the PharmD program and pay all application fees: http://www.marshall.edu/pharmacy/students/prospective-students/admissions/
  2. Students who are accepted into the PharmD program OR are currently enrolled in the PharmD program must complete the PharmD/MBA supplemental application and submit required application fees: https://www.marshall.edu/graduate/admissions/how-to-apply-for-admission/

Curriculum

Students will complete the PharmD Curriculum Classes in addition to the following courses related to the MBA program.
