Open Positions

  • The Department of Physics and Physical Science at Marshall University invites applicants for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2010. Candidates must have earned Ph.D. in physics. Applications should include evidence (or potential for) excellence in teaching, and the ability to establish an externally-funded research program suitable for undergraduate and graduate participation. Teaching duties will include courses for physics majors, but we also seek a colleague who will contribute to the University's general education curriculum with its emphasis on First-Year Seminar and core courses, which are intended to enhance students' critical thinking, and the the College's support of interdisciplinary programs. We currently have funded research in phonon physics, and are active in the theory of low-dimensional semiconductor systems, numerical relativity, nanotechnology, remote sensing, and photovoltaics.
