Dr. Shawn R. Schulenberg
Dr. Schulenberg received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California, Riverside in 2010. He came to Marshall University the same year and is currently Assistant Professor. He currently serves on the Executive Committee of the “Sexuality and Politics” section of the American Political Science Association, is the Program Chair of the “LGBT Caucus” of the American Political Science Association, and the Co-Chair of the Sexuality Studies Section in the Latin American Studies Association. In the past, he has served as a referee for the Politics & Policy.

Research Interests
Dr. Schulenberg is interested in topics surrounding LGBT politics in Latin America. He has presented his research at numerous meetings of the Latin American Studies Association, American Political Science Association, the Midwest Political Science Association, and Western Political Science Association. His publications include serving as book co-editor and author of a chapter in Same-Sex Marriage in the Americas (2010, Lexington Books) and the forthcoming Same-Sex Partnership Recognition in Latin America (2012, Lexington Books) and contributing a section on “Homosexuality and Transgenderism” for the textbook Politics of Latin America: The Power Game (2011, 4th edition, Oxford University Press).
