Strategic Plan

Intellectual Capital

This strategic area is a challenge to consider educational innovations that will expand and elevate the intellectual resources of the state and region. It entails developing and maximizing human potential through educational innovation.

Some key questions embedded in this area are:

  • How do we improve the competitive posture of West Virginia through higher education that prepares graduates for success in a world increasingly dominated by rapid change fueled by the “commerce of ideas.”

  • How do we create pathways for access and success for all students?

  • How do we educate students to think critically, integratively and independently?

  • How do we educate students to perform research, think with and interpret information/data, weigh evidence, clarify underlying assumptions and biases, construct knowledge, deduce implications and meaning, formulate new ideas and derivatives, and recognize and act effectively on new opportunities?
