Cyber safety summit rescheduled for Nov. 28 at Marshall University
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall University’s free cyber safety summit, originally scheduled for Oct. 30 but postponed because of weather conditions that day, has been rescheduled to Nov. 28 beginning at 10 a.m., according to John Sammons, assistant professor of Integrated Science and Technology and director of the Appalachian Institute of Digital Evidence.The summit will take place in the Memorial Student Center on the Huntington campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is for adults, college students and younger students aged 12-14.
During
the sessions, participants can learn how to prevent cyber bullying, keep
themselves and their families safe online, handle the dangers of social media,
keep their information and computers safe and identify scams. In addition, they
can find out how and why criminals target them and more.
The
event is sponsored by the Department of Integrated Science & Technology,
the FBI, and the Appalachian Institute of Digital Evidence.
