Who we are:
- A welcoming, caring community
- Open-minded, thinking Christians
- Marshall University students, staff, and faculty
- A campus ministry sponsored by the Westminster Foundation, local congregations, the Presbytery of WV, and the Presbyterian Church (USA)
What we do:
- Meet weekly (Tuesdays at 9:15 p.m. at the MU Campus Christian Center - Click here to see a campus map)
- Have weekly Bible Study (day/time determined each semester)
- Reach out to those in need in our community. We have worked with the Huntington City Mission, Habitat for Humanity, the Barboursville School, and the National MS Society.
- Share fun and fellowship
- Grow in our faith by asking questions, sharing doubts, discussing beliefs
- Worship God in various ways and settings
What are some Presbyterian Beliefs?:
- It’s about Grace - God loves all of us more than we could ever deserve.
- It’s about Justice—We have a deep concern for those in our world who are powerless, hungry, hurting, and lonely.
- It’s about Equality—The Church welcomes all, regardless of race, creed, sexual orientation, or gender. Women are elected to every level of leadership in the Church (and in PROWL)
- It’s about using our Minds—We say that “God alone is Lord of the conscience,” meaning that no one should tell us how to think about issues of life, faith, politics, etc. We value deep thinking, deep conversation, and deep faith all at the same time.
- It’s about this World (and not just the next...)— We believe that God is working right now to restore the world and all that is in it to the way it was “in the beginning. We also believe we’re called to help with that work.
Our Campus Minister, Rev. Dana Sutton, is available for crisis counseling, discussion, or any pastoral need. Please contact him at the Marshall Campus Christian Center. Phone: 696-3052 Email: dsutton@marshall.edu
