Fitness Classes |

|
All classes are free to students, faculty, and staff. Community may attend fitness classes at $3.00 a class. Fitness classes may be cancelled due to lack of participation. Please Note:

Cardio Kick-This high energy cardio class will vary from step, kickboxing, sport drills, to core training. It is a 60 minute class. Step & Sculpt- This class starts with traditional cardio step exercises then transitions to muscle conditioning and stretching. It is a 60 minute class. Mat Pilates-This class focuses on the basic Pilates exercises. It will concentrate on improving core strength, flexibility, balance, and coordination. Pilate’s class will also help enhance posture and body awareness. Yoga- This class uses specific poses and combinations to improve flexibility and strength. It concentrates on the mind, body, and spirit to relax and rejuvenate the participant. Body Sculpting-This non-aerobic class focuses on toning and strength training. It will use stability balls, resistance bands, body bars, and handheld weights. Abs-This 30 minute class will use mat work and stability balls to improve core strength. Spinning- Spinning is a stationary, group cycling class taught on specifically designed bikes. Taught by spinning instructors, this class offers an excellent cardio workout. Hapkido- is a Korean martial art that combines kicks and punches with throws and joint locks. It is suitable for people of all levels of abilities and will improve balance, strength, and cardiovascular skills are designed to subdue an opponent without causing serious injuries and are ideal for self-defense. Dr. Nadja Spitzer (1st degree
black belt) has studied Hapkido for six years under the guidance of Dr.
Nargundkar at Georgia State University with oversight by Grandmaster
Gedo Chang of Chicago. She has been teaching for two years. Dr. Spitzer
is a postdoctoral research associate in the Biotechnology Science Center
here at Marshall University. |
