for Business and Economic Research's (CBER) primary mission.
The CBER pursues this mission by both conducting economic
research and providing various business/economic services
to the region's public and private sectors.
Center
for Environmental, Geotechnical and Applied Sciences
CEGAS
is dedicated to research, technological innovation and providing
high-value services in information and geo-technology, environmental
management and technology, and engineering. The Center is
committed to improving the environmental health and economic
vitality of the community and state.
Center
for the Study of Ethnicity and Gender in Appalachia
This
Center researches and promotes research on the various aspects
of the people, cultures, and lives within the Appalachian
region.
John
Deaver Drinko Academy
The
John Deaver Drinko Academy at Marshall University is devoted
to enhancing public understanding of American institutions
and the responsibilities of citizens to their society, particularly
our sense of shared values and common purpose. The efforts
of the Center are designed to counteract the erosion of
our civil culture, evident in the steady decline of citizens'
participation in voting and jury duty, despite an expansion
of the franchise in the 20th Century and federal laws protecting
voting rights.
The Academy is also responsible for the operations of the
John Marshall Research Center.

University EPSCoR
The Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) is a national program designed to foster systemic and sustainable change in the capacity of colleges and universities to support competitive research.
Nick
J. Rahall, II Appalachian Transportation Institute
The
Rahall Transportation Institute helps influence a more diverse
and equitable economy for rural Appalachia and other mountain
areas by providing insights into how we can create and maintain
the most cost effective enhancement to our national transportation
system in rural Appalachia and rural America.
Robert
C. Byrd Center for Rural Health Resources
The
Center for Rural Health serves as the base for Marshall's
rural medicine outreach programs, which directly affect
more than half of West Virginia.
Robert
C. Byrd Institute for Advanced Flexible Manufacturing
RCBI
is the only statewide manufacturing technology production
and teaching resource in West Virginia. It assists manufacturing
companies use the latest technology to improve their bottom
lines in a global economy. RCBI provides manufacturers with
access to advanced CNC equipment; affordable, customized
workforce development and technical training programs; Quality
Certification and Implementation assistance, and an array
of technical support programs. This support includes machinist
training and development, computer assistance and integration,
and business development through electronic commerce opportunities.
With the added focus of the RCBI Composites Technology &
Training Center, RCBI helps composites-manufacturers diversify
their businesses, grow and successfully compete with the
world's best.
Autism
Training Center
The
mission of the Autism Training Center is to assist in the
development and implementation of education, training and
treatment programs for West Virginians who have Autism,
Pervasive Developmental Disorder (NOS) or Aspergers
Disorder and have been formally registered with the Center.
This is accomplished by providing education, training and
individualized supports for family members or guardians,
professional personnel and others important in the life
of the person with autism.
West Virginia IDeA
Network of Biomedical Research Excellence
The
primary goal of this Institute is to develop competitive
NIH research at a number of predominately undergraduate
institutions in the State of West Virginia. The program
will also provide students at these institutions enhanced
research experiences. The principal areas of research are
cardiovascular disease and cancer.

of Biomedical Research Excellence [website

This
NIH/NCRR-funded center is focused on cancer research, with
a particular emphasis on the role of transcription factors
in cancer cell biology. The Center consists of four research
projects and three support cores (administration, biological
imaging and genomics). It also sponsors a monthly Cancer
Biology seminar series.
West Virginia Prevention Resource Center
The West Virginia Prevention Resource Center (WVPRC) works to build the capacity of individuals, organizations, and agencies to promote the well-being of their communities. The WVPRC does not provide direct service but instead provides training & technical assistance, communication & information sharing, and accountability & evaluation.
