Move-In Information

This section will attempt to address the questions you may have about moving into your new home away from home, such as what to bring, what not to bring, and important dates.

What to Bring:

The following is a list of items many students wish to bring with them to the halls :

  • Bed and Bath Linens
  • Pillow and Blanket
  • Personal Grooming Items
  • Clothes Hangers
  • Desk Lamp
  • Small Floor or Window Fan
  • Alarm Clock
  • TV and/or Radio
  • Popcorn Poppers
  • Computer
  • Small Refrigerator (under 2.5 amps)
  • Shower Caddy
  • Laundry Bag
  • Decorations
  • ID Key Ring
  • Extension Cord
  • Coffeepots/Tea Makers
  • Shower Shoes/Sandals
  • Robe (to wear to and from shower)

 

What Not to Bring

The following is a list of items that are prohibited in the halls:

  • Cooking Appliances
  • Candles and Incense
  • Oil Lamps
  • Open-coiled Heating Units
  • ANY TYPE of Flame Making Device
  • Microwave Ovens
  • Darts
  • Weapons (of any type)
  • Waterbeds
  • Pets (except fish)
  • Multi-outlet Plugs
  • Large Refrigerators (over 2.5 amps)

 

Early Arrival Policy

Students may not move in to the halls before the first check-in day unless they are connected with a university organization that has received permission for its members to move in early. No exceptions will be made to this policy.

Move-In Dates/Times

For exact move in dates and times, please see the DRS calendar page. If you are unable to check-in before classes begin, you must request an extension in arrival time. The university is not obligated to hold a specific assignment beyond the first day of class. If you arrive late without clearing it through the Department of Residence Services, you may be required to accept another room assignment.
