Housing Option

First time freshman students will be assigned to live in the First Year Student Residence Halls. Research indicates that students who live on campus for two years or more have higher GPAs and are 25% more likely to graduate than those who live off-campus. Marshall University has developed a First Year Experience program to assist students in becoming academically and socially successful. A limited number of students may request to live in Buskirk Hall or Towers East.

Staff

The First Year Student Residence Halls are staffed by a General Manager (GM), two Assistant General Managers (AGM) and 22 Resident Assistants (RA). Our goal is to provide a safe and positive community where residents are able to meet their academic and personal goals.

Cost

The cost of living in the First Year Residence Halls during the 2009-2010 academic year will be $2510 per semester. Housing costs will be billed by Marshall University to your student account.

Meal Plan

Students residing in the First Year Student Residence Halls are required to select the unlimited meal plan. Meal plan rates and specifics can be obtained by visiting the Marshall University Dining Services website: http://www.marshall.edu/dining-services. Meal plan costs will be billed, by the University to the student account.

In your Resident Portal, you will be able to notify us of maintenance issues by filling out a work order, checking to see if you have packages at the front desk, filing your Room Condition Report (RCR), and keeping your contact information up to date.
