Hall Staff:

Residence Services employs staff to make daily life in the residence halls run smoothly. These staff include:

Central Office Staff work in the Department of Residence Services office in Holderby Hall. They include the people who make room assignments and manage the housekeeping and maintenance staff, and who supervise the security staff, Resident Advisors, and Resident Directors.

Housekeeping and Maintenance Staff are responsible for the upkeep of the halls.

Residence Hall Staff live in the halls with the residents, and are available to the residents 24 hours a day. Resident Advisors are student employees (must be at least a sophomore) who live on the floor with the residents. The RA is trained to answer questions, enforce the rules, plan activities, and be a friend and leader to his or her residents. Resident Directors are graduate students who live in a residence hall and manage all the daily activities in that hall. Residence Life Specialists are full-time employees who live in the halls and respond to problems after normal working hours.

Security Staff include Desk Coordinators, who handle the mail and work at the front desk M-F from 7:45-4:15; Student Security, who work at the front desk on the evening and weekend shifts; and security staff provided by A-1 Security on the midnight shifts. In addition, Residence Hall Monitors patrol the halls from 12:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m.
