Moving Out of Campus Housing

If you want to move out of Marshall's residence halls, be sure you follow these steps to avoid unnecessary bills or charges to your account:

  1. You must meet the criteria to be released from Marshall's residency requirement. If you do not, you must complete a release request form.
  2. If you are eligible to live off campus, complete a cancellation of housing form. Turn this in to the Department of Residence Services office in Holderby Hall.
  3. If you paid a damage deposit at the time you applied for housing, complete the request for damage refund form to have your damage deposit refunded. You will receive the refund about six weeks after you request it.
  4. Remove all your belongings from your room.
  5. See your RA or another RA in the building. He or she will check you out of your room. This means you will:
    • Complete your Room Condition Report (RCR). Be sure you check it carefully before signing it.
    • Turn in your room and mailbox keys.
    • Leave your forwarding address.
