and is the Dean of the WV Delegation to the House.

Vision:

The Appalachian Transportation Institute (ATI) was established at Marshall University through a 12 million dollar grant thanks to the efforts of WV Congressman Nick J. Rahall, II. The ATI was created by the US Congress in the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century on June 8, 1998. This grant is one of the largest  grant awards in the history of Marshall University and includes four other schools in Southern WV as partners. The grant is funded through the Research and Special Program Administration of the United States Department of Transportation as a University Transportation Center (UTC). There are 33 UTCs in the US funded by the USDOT. More information about the UTC program can be found at http://utc.dot.gov.
