MINUTES OF THE
FACULTY EVALUATION AND COMPENSATION
AD HOC
COMMITTEE
MEETING DATE: APRIL 4, 2003
- A report from the student rating sub-committee was
given. The sub-committee recommended a 5 point scale. A discussion then
followed about the need to tie in the current rating system and the new five
point scale system.
- After a lengthy discussion, the committee as a whole
then moved, seconded and passed a motion to accept the sub-committee’s
recommendation and adopt the five point scale system.
- Questions to use for developing the ratings under the
five point scale system are being worked on by the rating sub-committee. The
sub-committee hopes to have 15 or less questions to be used. The
sub-committee also presented four categories for the rating system. These
were agreed upon by the committee as a whole.
- The rest of the meeting consisted of cleaning-up the
language of the document “Possible Categories of the Faculty Role” that are
being prepared for distribution to the various College deans, division chairs
and program coordinators. This activity needed additional time to develop, so
the committee as a whole continued to work until it was felt the document was
ready for distribution.
