Minutes for Meeting of August 27, 2004

Present:  Venkat Gudivada, Sandy Marra, Kay Wildman, Jerry Jones, James Sottile, Mike Castellani, Janet Dooley, Michael McGuffey, Frances Hensley, Don Van Horn, Mike Cornfeld, Caroline Perkins, Lawrence Shao, Corley Dennison.

The meeting was called to order at 1:10 p.m.

1.  Minutes accepted (Castellani, Cornfeld).

2.  We reviewed the senate recommendation.

            A.  We recommended that Janet review the section called "Market Equity Process on p. 6 with Michael McGuffey, and send a corrected version to the committee.

            B.  Janet noted some editorial corrections on p. 5.

            C.  We reviewed the numbers for the formula on p. 7, and made minor editorial corrections.

            D.  We decided to combine the old and new planning pages.

            E.  We discussed the timeline and made many changes.

            F.  James Sottile proposed that we simplify the recommendation, and send the sample evaluation for information purposes only.

3.  We discussed possible changes to the Greenbook.

            A.  Changes to the timeline (see E. above) resulted in one change to the Greenbook, regarding when P & T applications are 'frozen'.

            B.  We decided not to change Greenbook language at this time concerning standards for promotion & tenure to accord with evaluative germs on annual reports.

4.  Janet distributed meetings times & places for September and October.

5.  Meeting adjourned at 2:40 p.m.
