FECC meeting Minutes Friday March 4, 2005

Members Present:  Shirley Lumpkin, Sandy Marra, Michael Castellani, Lawrence P. Shao, Michael Cornfeld, Janet Dooley, Kay Wildman, Don Van Horn

Ex-officio members present:  Sarah Denman, Mike McGuffey

1.  The minutes were approved.
 

2.  The student rating form motion recommendation passed faculty Senate.
 

3.  Discussion of language changes in the Greenbook to reflect new terminology ensued and the following statement passed:

                        “To make the terminology consistent in the Greenbook, we recommend replacing the word “excellent” with the word “exemplary” and the word “effective” with the word “professional.”
 

4.  Discussion of notifying probationary faculty annually about their progress toward promotion and tenures ensued.  We considered adding to the Greenbook a statement that “all probationary faculty must be notified in writing annually in accordance with college policy on progress toward promotion and tenure.” 
 

5.  The Committee decided to ask The academic Vice President to ask the Deans to report to her on procedures used to report annually to probationary faculty about their progress toward promotion and tenure.
 

6.  The secretary, citing personal time constraints and the fact that her new evaluation is based on 10% service, resigned from her post.  These are her last minutes.
