SR-04-05-(01) 58 CAHC Approved Recommends that The Constitution of the Marshall University Faculty be amended to reflect changes mandated by Senate Bill 448; that current Faculty Senate officers and Executive Committee members remain in office through 2006; that senators elected in 2003 have terms ending in 2006; and that senators elected in 2005 have terms ending in 2008.
SR-04-05-(02) 59 CAHC Approved Recommends that Article IV, Section 3 of The Constitution of the Marshall University Faculty be amended to read as follows: "...At the request of any senator for a division of the Faculty Senate, a show of hands or a roll call vote will be taken and recorded by the Faculty Senate Secretary." (Revisions indicated in bold)
SR-04-05-(03) 60 FECAHC Disapproved Recommends that SR-03-04-49 FECAHC be implemented using the revised Marshall University Faculty Evaluation and Compensation Guidelines and revised annual plan and annual review processes as attached. (on file in the Faculty Senate office)
SR-04-05-(04) 61 LA Approved

Recommends that the Faculty Senate and the Legislative Affairs Committee of Marshall University jointly express our appreciation to the legislators for their support to higher education legislation in the 2004 Legislative Session. Specifically, we appreciate the initiation and passage of SB 448 by Senators Plymale, Edgell, Boley, Bowman, Caldwell, Dempsey, Harrison, Hunter, Oliverio, Sprouse, Unger and White (Enactment of State Code §18B-6-2b) as well as the initiation of SB 612 by Senators Chafin, Oliverio, Hunter and Unger and HB 4609 by Delegates Fleischauer, Caputo, Fragale, Susman, Manchin, G.White and Craig (Amendment of the State Code §5-5-1 to include faculty for AEI). We urge their consideration of re-submission of the SB 612 and HB 4609 to the 2005 legislature.  Furthermore, we encourage the Faculty Senate in our sister-institutions and the State ACF to express similar acknowledgements.

SR-04-05-(05) 62 BAPC Approved

Recommends that the University adopt the attached Academic Calendar 2005-2006 and the Academic Calendar 2006-2007 in which the Thanksgiving/Fall Break is extended to five (5) days. (on file in the Faculty Senate office)

SR-04-05-(06) 63 BAPC Approved

Recommends the attached revision to the Undergraduate Attendance Policy. (on file in the Faculty Senate office) The revision was approved by the Deans with Faculty and the Budget & Academic Policy Committee. This revised policy would: 1. Include critical family member illness, military and jury duty/subpoenaed court appearances as excused absences 2. Move approval of absences for student illness or critical illness/death in the immediate family to the Dean of Student Affairs 3. Provide details regarding the Catch Up/Make Up Missed Work policy. The requested implementation date is Fall 2005.

Recommends that SR-03-04-49 FECAHC be implemented using the revised Marshall University Faculty Evaluation and Compensation Guidelines and revised annual plan and annual review processes as attached. (on file in the Faculty Senate office) Medical School clinical physicians, and basic science faculty in the medical school, including forensic science faculty, are exempt from this salary recommendation.

SR-04-05-(18) 75 PFPC Returned to Committee Recommends that whereas Marshall University has a ban on smoking, the ban should be on all tobacco products as well and that all University policies should replace "smoking" with "all tobacco products".

SR-04-05-(36) 93 FECAHC Approved Recommends that The Greenbook language pertaining to University Promotion Policy and University Tenure Policy be revised to correspond with the language adopted in SR-03-04-49, specifically that references to "effective" be changed to "professional," that "an effective" be changed to "a professional," that "effectiveness" be changed to "professionalism," and that "excellence" be changed to "exemplary performance."
SR-04-05-(37) 94 FECAHC Approved Recommends that in The Greenbook, Procedure: Notification of Probationary Faculty, the following text be added at the end of the paragraph: All probationary faculty must be notified annually in writing by peer committees, chairpersons and/or deans of their progress toward tenure and/or promotion. Notifications should identify specific areas of improvement needed for tenure or promotion.

SR-04-05-(44) 101 PFPC Approved This committee recommends the following revision to SR-03-04-57 IS: Recommends that no restrictions be placed on which levels anyone parks on in the parking garage with a valid permit.
SR-04-05-(45) 102 FS Approved Recommends that the College of Health Professions' statement for a collaborative Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care with St. Mary's Medical Center be approved.
