SR-08-09-01 EC Approved by Faculty Senate, October 23, 2008;
read by the University President, November 3, 2008.
Resolves that the Faculty Senate endorse the "Higher Education Faculty Legislative Agenda" as prepared by the Advisory Council of Faculty (ACF).
SR-08-09-02 IS Approved by Faculty Senate, September 25, 2008; disapproved by the University President, October 20, 2008 Recommends that the new recreation center bear the name of Dr. Paul Ambrose.
SR-08-09-03 LAC Approved Recommends that the Faculty Senate and the President of Marshall University endorse the creation of a bus service between the Marshall University Huntington campus and the Marshall University South Charleston campus. Furthermore, we respectfully urge the state and federal legislators to provide additional funds to facilitate the operation of such a service.
SR-08-09-04 UFC Approved CONFIDENTIAL Recommends that the following nominees be considered for commencement speaker and/or recipient of an honorary degree and that new nominees be added to the perpetual lists. The committee recognizes that, if more appropriate, the university president has the option to choose another candidate and that traditionally, the newly elected governor of West Virginia has been invited as commencement speaker.
SR-08-09-05 BAPC Approved Recommends that the University adopt the attached Academic Calendar 2009-2010 and the Academic Calendar 2010-2011.
SR-08-09-06 LAC Approved Recommends that the Faculty Senate, President Kopp, Marshall University Board of Governors, and the WV Advisory Council of Faculty, jointly endorse a resolution which urges the State and WV-PEIA to implement a 2-year moratorium on any increases in PEIA premiums, co-payment deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximum and/or decreases in medical/pharmacy benefits to all state employees both active and retired.
SR-08-09-07 IS Approved by the Faculty Senate, November 20, 2008; unsigned by the University President, November 26, 2008 Recommends that the Chair of the Faculty Senate convene an ad hoc committee comprised of faculty, students, staff, and community members to investigate options to name the recreation center after Paul Ambrose and to report back to the Faculty Senate no later than its January 29, 2009 meeting.

SR-08-09-12 IS Approved Recommends that the Faculty Senate endorse the establishment of an annual, campus-wide festival to celebrate student learning that will provide a common time for presenting and publicizing to the Marshall University community, alumni, Legislators, Board of Governors, prospective students, and other members of the region the work that students and faculty mentors are already doing.

SR-08-09-16 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed REQUEST FOR UNDERGRADUATE ADDITION, DELETION, OR CHANGE OF AN AREA OF EMPHASIS OR CHANGE OF A MINOR in the COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS -- Addition of an AOE in Literature within the English LE20 Major; Addition of an AOE in Creative Writing within the English LE20 Major; and the Addition of a Asian Studies Minor within the History Major.
SR-08-09-17 APC Approved Recommends that the College of Education and Human Services' Intent-To-Plan statement for a Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training Degree Program be approved.

SR-08-09-38 CC Approved Recommends that the processes by which curricular items, that are to be considered by the university Curriculum Committee (uCC) be officially changed to reflect a new, electronic submission process. This process is reflected through the uCC's Web site, which is a part of the Faculty Senate Web site. This site contains a complete set of instructions and a searchable online interface of past uCC agendas and items.
