SR-13-14-41 UFC Approved CONFIDENTIAL Recommends that the following nominees be considered for as a recipient of an honorary degree and be added to the perpetual list. The committee recognizes that, if more appropriate, the university president has the option to choose another candidate.
SR-13-14-42 LAC Approved Resolves that the Faculty Senate endorses the West Virginia Advisory Council of Faculty Issues for 2013, "Creating a Continuum of Learning.
SR-13-14-43 IS Approved at FS level; Awaiting Presidents signature Recommends that the faculty of Marshall University evaluate the President and the Provost of the University in October 2013 and annually in March thereafter, including March 2014, using the attached form or future modifications thereof by the Faculty Senate Executive Committee.
SR-13-14-44 BAPC Approved Recommends that the Speech and Debate teams have access to early registration.

Members of the Board of Governors and Marshall University Faculty should have an open meeting once a semester.

Resolves that, by a vote of the Faculty Senate, Marshall University opposes the use of the new West Virginia Paycard adopted by the state Auditor’s Office and request the Auditor to provide an explanation of statutory authority for this action.

Recommends approval of the listed COURSE CHANGE in the following colleges and/or schools/program: COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS: PSY 426-Cross Cultural Psychology - Add MC attribute to catalog description.

SR-13-14-48 LAC Approved

Resolves that the Marshall University Faculty Senate and President Kopp and area stakeholders will hold forums on the Huntington, South Charleston and Pt. Pleasant campuses to ask their legislative representatives to address the proposed budget cut to higher education.  These forums will take place on each campus prior to the November Legislative Interims. 

SR-13-14-49 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed COURSE CHANGE in the following colleges and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE OF EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: ECE 322 - Change course title to Language, Literacy.
SR-13-14-50 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed COURSE ADDITIONS in the following colleges and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS: Add ENG 221 Postcolonial Literature and ENG 416 Victorian Nonfiction.
SR-13-14-52 IS Approved at FS level; awaiting Presidents signature Recommends that, by a vote of the faculty senate, the Budget Working Group allocate $50,000 for funding research awards to individual faculty member's expenses up to $5000.

SR-13-14-56 BAPC Approved Recommnedsd that the Marshall University Board of Governors Policy AA-14 (Course Syllabus) be revised. The Chair of the department in which the course resides is in the best position to assist and reslove issues arising from instructors of late appointments.

The Faculty Senate of Marshall University requests Marshall University Board of Governors to have, starting in the AY 2013-2014, at least once a year a JOINT MEETING, to discuss matters affecting faculty and the effective and efficient management of the institution.

Recommends that the Academic Planning Committee recommend the following programs be continued at their current level of activity: BA in Humanities, BA in History, BA in Sociology/Anthropology, Bachelor of Applied Science, Regents Bachelor of Arts, and Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Arts.  Committee members also recommend continuation of the BS in Biological Sciences with identification for resource development.

Recommends that Members of the Academic Planning Committee recommend the Intent to Plan for the BA in Arts and Intent to Plan for the BA in Sports Management move forward in the preparation process.

SR-13-14-61 BAPC Approved Recommends approval of allowing highly qualified West Virginia high school students who have been selected for the BS/MD program the opportunity to participate in early registration in order to complete their requirements for their Bachelor of Science and medical school at Marshall University and The Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine in seven years
SR-13-14-62 APC Approved

Recommends the approval of the “Intent to Plan” for the Bachelor in Arts in the Arts with Majors in Art, Music, Theater, and Allied Arts.

Recommends the approval of the “Intent to Plan” for the Bachelor of Arts in Sport Management Degree Program.

SR-13-14-68 LC Approved The Faculty Senate’s Library Committee RESOLVES that Article VI, Section 11. B of the Constitution of the Marshall University Faculty be amended to revise the Ex-Officio Non- Voting Membership to include the Director of Libraries Operations, the Director of Morrow Library, the Director of South Charleston Library, and the Head of Archives & Special Collections.
SR-13-14-69 BAPC Approved Recommends the new Course Substitution Policy be more student-centered and broadens the scope of the current policy to include a range of disabilities and situations affecting all disciplines. This policy provides more latitude and flexibility in meeting student needs and makes compliance with ADA easier.
SR-13-14-70 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed UNDERGRADUATE COURSE ADDITIONS in the following colllegs and/or schools/programs: COLLEGES OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS and LIBERAL ARTS for the following courses: MI 423, 425, 426. ENG 214, 232, 440, 442; HIST 488; PSY 223L, 323L and 490.

ANT 391, 492; ENG 350, 360, 420; GEO 410; SOC 391, 492; SPN 315, 316; SFT 235; ISC 202, 215 and 220.
SR-13-14-72 FPC/EC/FSAT Approved Recommends approval to the Marshall University Board of Governors Policy Numbers AA-7 Salary Increases for Tenured and Tenure track Faculty, AA-22 Annual Evaluation of Faculty, AA-26 Faculty Promotion, AA-27 Faculty Promotion Salary Increase, and AA-28 Faculty Tenure, and the addition of new MUBOG Policy AA-45.
SR-13-14-73 EC Disapproved by Faculty Senate Recommends to add "and a representative elected from and by the Marshall University Council of Chairs" to Article VI, Sections 5, 6, and 7 under B) Membership.
SR-13-14-74 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM CHANGE in the following collegs and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING. Add one hour to ENGR 102 Introduction to CAD, and separate ENGR 318 into two separate courses.

Recommends approval of the listed UNDERGRADUATE COURSE CHANGES in the following collegs and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS and COLLEGE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING. ENG 101, 455, SPN 335, 336, and 436, PSC 209, CE 241, ENGR 102, 215, and 318.

SR-13-14-76 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed UNDERGRADUATE COURSE ADDITIONS in the following colleges and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS, COLLEGE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING and the COLLEGE OF SCIENCE: ENG 101P, ENGR 240 AND 319, CJ 407. 408, and 409.
SR-13-14-77 CC Approved Recommends approval of the listed UNDERGRADUATE ADDITION of AREA OF EMPHASIS in the following colleges and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY & ENGINEERING. Add BSE/Civil Emphasis, TE 21.
SR-13-14-79 FDC Approved @ FS awaiting Presidents approval Recomends that changes be made to the criteria for nomination for the Picken-Queen, Reynolds and Hedrick faculty awards.
SR-13-14-81 PFPC Approved @ FS awaiting Presidents approval Recommends that during the fall and spring semesters, Monday morning through Friday morning, overnight parking in the Third Avenue parking garage is allowed only on levels three (3) and above. This policy wil be effective beginning the Fall 2014 semester.
SR-13-14-82 PFPC Approved

Recommends that 1) the "Stop" sign located on Commerce Avenue (South side) close to the North West end of the Arthur Weisberg Engineering Complex, be relocated to the crossing area near the North East corner of the Arthur Weisberg Family Engineering Laboratories and that a new "Stop" sign be added on the West bound side of the road at the crossing area; and 2) In addtion to the "Stop" sign changes the PFPC recommends that a "Yeild to Pedestrians" sign be added next to the "Stop" signs. To futher enhance awareness of the location of the pedestrian crossing area for both drivers and pedestrians, the PFPC suggests making the crosswalk obvious by using "Zebra Crossing" markings.

SR-13-14-84 CC Approved @ FS awaiting Presidents approval Recommends approval of the UNDERGRADUATE COURSE CHANGES in the following collegs and/or schools/programs: COLLEGE OF ARTS & MEDIA: ART 426, JMC 436, THE 150, 260, 261, and 436. COLLEGE OF BUSINESS: ECN 340; and the COLLEGE OF HEALTH PROFESSIONS: NUR 333, and 427.

SR-13-14-89 LAC Approved Recommends that the Marshall University Faculty Senate and President Kopp develop a procedure and format for tranferring course credit between 2 and 4 year institutions and Marshall University.
