Horizon Scholarship

(Up to $3,500) – Awarded to first-time freshmen with ACT Composite Score of 23 or higher (SAT Score 1050 CR+M or higher) and a 2.75 H.S. Grade Point Average. The qualifying student must be a U.S. citizen or have U.S. Permanent Resident Alien status to receive this scholarship.


This is a 4-year scholarship that is renewable. The renewal criteria are as follows:


  • Successfully complete at least 26 credits each academic year
  • Earn at least a 2.5 cumulative Grade Point Average by the end of freshman year
  • Earn at least a 2.75 cumulative Grade Point Average by the end of sophomore and junior years


This is a tuition waiver scholarship, which may only be applied to Marshall University tuition charges; it may not be applied to charges for on-line courses. This scholarship waiver does not cover tuition charges from St. Mary’s Center for Education and other consortium colleges and universities.

Students who qualify for the Horizon Scholarship may also qualify for the Achievement Scholarship.
