Plane Crash Ceremony

There will be a gathering at the Memorial Fountain outside of the Student Center for a ceremony to remember and honor our football team, coaches, and fans involved in the tragic plane crash of 1971.

Etiquette Dinner

This event, located in the John Marshall Room, is designed to help students gain skills necessary when interviewing for a job. Dress and proper etiquette will be discussed while dining.

Professional Attire is required.

There is a $5 reservation fee that will be refunded once upon your attendance.

If you are in a club/team/organization on campus, come to BE5 in the basement of the Student Center for some free food, football, networking possibilities, and a relaxing time with other leaders from Marshall and the Huntington community. This will be a chance to update everybody else on what your group is currently working on and it is a great place to join forces to tackle bigger projects.

The Magic of Life

An incredible, inspirational alcohol awareness program that deals with a son’s story about a tragic drunk driving accident that killed his mother, and almost himself when he was nearly 8 weeks old.

Michael Gershe tells a very emotional and inspirational story about how he barely survived being hit by a drunk driver along with his family when he was just an infant. Just about every bone in his body was broken, his skull fractured and yet, Michael has gone on to live a very fulfilling and successful life. Having been called “one of the most touching and inspirational speakers I’ve ever had the pleasure to hear”, Michael presents his story with a much different style than all others on this subject.

While the program contains humor, Michael gets serious and to the point when he talks about the drunk driving accident that changed his life. Audiences will laugh, cry, and think about their own futures as they even see a video tape of Michael, his brother, and his mother taken shortly before the incident. As a former student-athlete, he will talk about binge drinking, peer pressure, and other dangers associated with alcohol abuse.

Michael has the experience of being a stand up comedian as he blends humor with a very uplifting and inspirational story that will make the audience experience many different emotions.

The Magic of Life is more than just an alcohol awareness program. Its about realizing your potential and going after your dreams!

Style Your Sole (TOMS Shoes event)

Participants will pay $40 and sign up with their shoe size in advance. The day of the event, everyone will come and get their shoes and decorate them however they want! We will supply all the paint, markers, etc. There will be live music and the best part—for every pair of shoes you buy, a pair goes to a child in need. So we will celebrate giving back to those less fortunate

Hungry For Change

This event is sponsored by Darfur: Breaking the Silence. Members will be participating in a “famine” or will be “fasting” for 2-3 days in honor of the Refugees. Aside from that, these members want to host an event that welcomes any and everyone who wants to help raise awareness and money for the genocide in Darfur, even if they are not fasting. There will be a Rockband tournament, craft table, t-shirts for sale, and petitions to sign! More details later.

Volleyball match vs. WVU

It is the only time any Mountaineer team will be making a trip to Huntington. The Thundering Herd Volleyball team is currently 11-2 and is 7-0 vs. WVU in last few years.
