Marshall University Student Government
The duties of the Student Body President are to represent the Student Government Association in all relations, execute decisions of the Student Senate, and be the Liaison between the Students and the Administration. Her goals this year are to strengthen the connection between Student Government Association and the students, as well as the administration, through Thunderfest, the committee Helping Organizations Unite Students in Excellence, and several other initiatives.
Vice-President - David Kluemper
The Student Body Vice President serves as President of the Student Senate and assists the Student Body President with the duties of the Student Government Association. David is looking forward to working hard this year to enhance student life during his term in Student government Association.
Chief-of-Staff - Sean Hornbuckle
The Chief of Staff provides general assistance to the President and Vice-President and is responsible for routine day-to-day activities. He also assists the President and Vice-President with any projects they undertake and will give reports to the executive staff if necessary. He will oversee the executives and ensure that the executive duties are carried out. This year, the Chief-of-Staff will also serve as the Athletic Liaison and will have an active role in planning for athletic events such as Homecoming, preparations for the WVU-Marshall game, as well as any other athletic events.
Business Manager - Matt Rucker
The business manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Student Government budget. He will also serve as a liaison to the Senate Finance committee and the Senate President Pro-Tempore on dealings with the student organization funding and the budget as a whole. His goal this year is to improve the funding packet for the student organizations.
Campus Development - Amy Isble
The office of Campus Development is responsible for planning, organizing and executing events the further enhance the relationship between the Marshall campus and the Huntington community. These events include community service projects, the annual Plane Crash Ceremony and Homecoming. The office is also responsible for developing and maintaining up-to-date contact information for student organizations and enhancing communication and participation between the organizations. The goal of this office is to promote, unite and enhance the relationship between student organizations.
Communication Director - Rachel Sargent
The Communications Director is responsible for all media relations regarding Student Government. The position is responsible for writing and editing all public relations material (press release, media advisories, website information, newsletters, etc.) as well as the planning and execution of the Memorial Plane Crash Ceremony and other Student Government sponsored events. The communications director works closely with the Parthenon, the University’s newspaper, the Herald Dispatch and the University communications office to appropriately provide information. The goals of the communications director is to promote and maintain a positive image between SGA and the media and to provide timely and newsworthy information to all media outlets concerning SGA and other student organizations.
Multicultural Affairs - Ronald L. Jones
The office of Multicultural Affairs is responsible for achieving a diverse student government through promotions and emphasis on the various multicultural activities at Marshall University. The primary goal of the multicultural affairs office is to promote a more diverse student government to ensure fair representation, to help learn about and further promote the Multicultural affairs office and the programs it sponsors through reaching out to the various entities of the University. The director of Multicultural Affairs is also responsible for updating and maintenance of the SGA website.
The Greek Liaison is responsible for all issues regarding Greek life at Marshall University from a Student Government standpoint. The office coordinates all Greek organizations to ensure effective events, promotes and encourages recruitment and will work very closely with the office of Campus Development, as well as the National Pan-Hellenic Council, the Pan-Hellenic Council and the Inter-Fraternity Council. The Greek Liaison’s goal is to enhance and continue a positive relationship with all Greeks, as well as promote and encourage recruitment, event participation and award achievements made by members of these organizations.
