McKenzie Cooley, a native of the Huntington area, is a Junior pursuing a degree in Communications Studies with a Minor in Psychology, which she hopes to use as she furthers her higher education in law school. A proud member of the Dean’s List within her college, McKenzie is a dedicated student who stays actively involved on campus. As an active leader within the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, McKenzie has held an impressive three different leadership positions within the organization: Alumnae Relations Chair, New Member Educator, and Recruitment Vice President, a position in which she currently holds. Adding to her impressive experience as a leader, McKenzie has also served on the Panhellenic Council Executive board for the past two semesters.

As an active member of the Society of Black Scholars at Marshall, McKenzie continues to be active in the diversified campus community that Marshall is proud to boast. She was a Week of Welcome Diversity Leader, helping to ease the transition for new Sons and Daughters of Marshall transition into our diversified campus. McKenzie also holds direct ties with the Center for African American Students’ Programs, in which her father, Maurice Cooley, holds the position of Director. McKenzie seeks to serve as Diversity Affairs Liason for the Executive Branch in which she plans on expanding the position to students of all cultures, specifically the international student community, which continues to grow and will see a major boom with Marshall’s newly established partnership with the International Recruiting Firm, INTO.

Outside of the campus community, McKenzie is dedicated to serving her hometown by volunteering for various organizations in the area. Some of these organizations include the United Way Campaign, The Junior League, The Ronald McDonald House, as well as her church.
