Tyrell Carlton is a native of Brooklyn, New York pursuing a major in Public Relations with a minor in Psychology. Ty currently serves as a Combat Engineer in the United States Army National Guard. He has been with the armed forces since 2009 and has proven to be a leader within his unit, which resulted in him being a recipient of the Army Achievement Medal for State Duty. He was also the winner of the Warrior Challenge in 2010. His service with the National Guard includes serving communities effected by severe flooding as well as rendering aid to towns effected by snowstorms, along with a variety of other tasks.

Along with his ongoing military experience, Ty is a very active member of the University community here at Marshall. He is a member of the philanthropic organization Circle K International, and also a member of the Public Relations Student Society of America. Ty is also a leader within his fraternal organization, Sigma Tau Gamma. He has held several different leadership positions which include: Vice President of Membership, Sargent-at-Arms, Social Chair. He has also received a number of awards such as Brother of the Year, the Principle of Value Award, and the Principle of Excellence award, which he was awarded twice.

Ty looks forward to helping to not only being an intermediary in helping veterans on campus receive all of the benefits that they are eligible to receive thanks to their service, but he also plans to help better integrate veterans into our campus community so that they may receive all that our great university has to offer.
