Senator Danny Holderby

Danny Holderby is from Proctorville, OH, and a Social Studies Education major at Marshall University. In addition to representing the College of Education, Danny is a member of the Marching Thunder and Pep Band, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity, and Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He is also an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals!

Senator Kayla Johnson

Kayla Johnson is a second year COEHS Senator from Gallipolis, OH. A double major in French and English Education, Kayla is accustomed to the hard work and effort that is necessary to serve the students of MU. During her 3 years as a member of the  Herd, Kayla has been President of the Club de Francais, President of the Forensics Union, member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, MU Honors College member, and Captain of the “Thundering Word” Speech and Debate Team where she is the 2 time WV Individual Champion. Kayla is a John Marshall Scholar, a Robert C. Byrd Scholar, a recipient of the Virginia Keys Memorial Scholarship, and was a Yeager Scholar Finalist.

This fall, Kayla will be teaching English as a Foreign Language in Amiens, France as part of the Fulbright Scholars and Franco-American Commission programs. Upon her return, Kayla will be finishing her degrees at Marshall and will head to The Ohio State University for a Masters in Educational Policy Studies.

Senator Hannah McCargish | Historian

Hannah McCargish is a Senior Secondary Education major from Beckley, WV. Her emphasis of study is in Social Studies and she would most enjoy teaching 8th grade West Virginia History or 12th grade Civics. She has been a Senator for the College of Education for the past year and is SGA’s current Historian. Hannah is a member of the Marshall University Young Democrats, where she is involved in volunteering at the local and state levels within the Democratic Party. In her free time, she most enjoys being with her friends and doing craft projects.

Senator Dustin Murphy | Sargent at Arms

Dustin Murphy, a junior, is a College of Education Senator with the specification in History Education. He has been a senator for two years within the College of Education and is the Sergeant at Arms this year within the Senate. Dustin is an Iraqi War Veteran who graduated from Wayne High School in 2004. Dustin is also an active member in other groups like being the President of the Marshall University Libertarians, the Secretary of the Marshall University Marksmanship Club, and a member of Vets for Vets.
