INTRODUCTION |
All SOJMC students are required to meet with an academic advisor for the first 57 hours of coursework. The following major-specific links outline the classes each student must take and the requirements that must be met to earn a JMC bachelor's degree. When using this site, it is recommended that you use the MU Course Catalog as a cross-reference. The SOJMC faculty also recommendends that juniors and seniors continue to check this site, follow the recommended outline and see your advisor when you have questions.

BEFORE MEETING YOUR ADVISOR | Contact your advisor and schedule a meeting. E-mail links are provided on the left side of this page to all SOJMC advisors. Before the appointment, you should make a list of the classes you would like to take next semester. Be sure to double-check that none of the classes have time conflicts. You will also want to arrive to your appointment with a list of the classes you have completed and the grades you received. This can easily be accomplished by printing your unofficial transcript from MyMu. Doing this reduces the chance that you would not receive credit for a class that you completed at other schools or during high school. Finally, please remember to come prepared with your school identification number - it starts with the numbers 901.

WHAT TO EXPECT | Your advisor will guide you in the class selection process and lift any holds that have been placed on your records. Sometimes, you may need to resolve a hold with other offices on campus, such as the Parking Office if you have unpaid tickets. Your advisor will most likely ask you to fill out and sign a class registration form for his or her records. Before you leave your appointment, note your advisor's office hours and ask how you may contact him or her if any scheduling problems arise.

AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT | You have two options to register for your classes: fill out a class registration form and take it to the office of the Registrar or register online through Milo on MyMu. Please consult your advisor if you experience any problems usng Milo to register.

A FINAL WORD FOR OUR STUDENTS |
The SOJMC faculty and staff are committed to making the advising and registration process easy and convenient for our students. If you follow the academic plan related to your major, completing your degree should not be a problem.
