JMC 410/510 is not a class for the wimpy, the lazy, or the uninspired.

JMC 410/510 is a class for the student who wants learn about magazine editorial objectives. JMC 410/510 is a class for the student who wants to push his or her design envelope, whether that envelope is small or already large. JMC 410/510 is a class for the student who wants to create a portfolio quality magazine mock-up.

By the end of this course, you will have written a detailed analysis of a national magazine; developed the beginnings of a magazine prospectus to gain support for your proposed publication; and planned, designed and built a 24-page issue of your own magazine.

ABOUT THE COURSE

COURSE REQUIREMENTS
Study of the organization and functions of the magazine editorial department,
with practice in planning magazine content, laying out pages and establishing
producation procedures.

PREREQUISITES
JMC 241 or an equivalent graphics course
