James Hall Wilson, Jr. was born 2/3/1916 and died 4/14/1988, the son of J. Hall Wilson (11/2/1876-11/3/46) who came to Durbin W.V. about the turn of the century as Secretary-Treasurer of the Durbin Mercantile Co, considered to be the company store for the Pocahontas Tanning Co. of Frank, WV. Jim had graduated from Marshall College. He became a CPA with the firm of Haskins and Sell of Baltimore, Maryland. His father had, in fact, been one of the incorporators of the Mercantile Company as we discovered in records found during the interview. Jim had returned after his father death to “run” the store. His account of what he found and how he coped with the business was a test hard to pass.
Pictures were not taken of Jim Wilson during interviews in 1976, but his last living sister was located living in Charleston, WV and pictures were secured from her as well as an interview and pictures of her as well, her name is Anna Mary Wilson.
All financial records and other documents are available to the public in Morrow Library on the Marshall University Campus in Huntington, West Virginia.
