Mr. Matheny was interviewed at his grocery store in Bartow, WV in the summer of 1975. He was born 4/5/1885 and was ninety years old at the time of the interview. His mind was very sharp as he recalled events of the time and various places and people. From 12/16/1925 until 4/30/1955 he served as Postmaster at Bartow. His son was present and served customers during the interview. You can hear the greeting and questions concerning purchases in the background appearance Mr. Matheny had light eyes a quick smile and very good demeanor. His information concerning transportation of goods provided a good view of the way materials traveled in the early part of the century.
