Richard McCarty was born in 1886 and died in 1982.  When he was interviewed at Hillsboro, West Virginia in the shadows of Droop Mountain it was a sunny day and his daughter was nearby.  His story was an interesting one.  When I started to take his picture his daughter fluffed-up his hair and he said to her, "Don't do that you will make my head sore".  Some of his remaining family still resides in Hillsboro, WV.
