Welcome to the Student Resource Center!
The Student Resource Center (SRC) is located on the second floor of the Memorial Student Center (office 2W16) and is now a division of the Office of Career Education. Our on-site Major Exploration Consultants are here to help you explore the wide offering of majors at Marshall, as well as the career options you are likely to have with any major. We also provide career, interest, and other assessments to guide you as you make your decision. Whether you are unsure about what major to pursue, or you just know you need a change, we will guide you toward a rewarding major and associated career that enables you to integrate your abilities, interests, and passions into your daily work.
There are five consultants in the SRC who are ready to:
- Provide career assessments, career and academic engagement plans, internship and job shadowing resources to freshmen and sophomores by utilizing job exploration strategies and learning communities as needed. Using problem solving skills and accurate/relevant information to guide students into constructive “best fit” academic pathways, the consultants seek to help the students find the best academic and career match for themselves.
- Develop and provide on-site activities, such as presentations, workshops, discussions, and informational tables as needed to assist students with career planning, readiness, and networking with employers.
- Initiate comprehensive and intentional consultations with special populations as designated by student success initiatives and strategic enrollment planning goals. The consultants will collaborate with other advising offices at all times to ensure that students get the most accurate, up-to-date information possible.
